Arjen Robben: 'Neuer Deserves To Win, So Do Cristiano And Messi'

 

Dutch international Arjen Robben feels that his Bayern team-mate, Manuel Neuer deserves to with this evening’s 2014 FIFA BallonD’Or award, but adds that the same could be said for both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Robben, adds that the fact that both Ronaldo and Messi are "international brands" works against Manuel.

"Neuer deserves to win but as captain of my national team, I can’t vote for him", added the Dutch player in an interview published in today's German publication, Bild.

It’s a worldwide decision from Australia, to America and Africa. It’s difficult in that light as Messi and Ronaldo are practically huge global brands and this plays against Manuel", he continued.

Robben feels that for Neuer it’s an honour to be in the same shortlist as Messi and Ronaldo but feels that the goalkeeper deserves to win the award.

“It’s crazy but he deserves to win. He’s a goalkeeper and defender at the same time. His quality speaks for itself. The other two are great players too. They score 50, 60, 100 goals... they’re unique. It’s already a great honour for Manuel to be shortlisted with talent like that", he concluded.
