Vincent Enyeama former captain of Nigerian national team is one of the most decorated Nigerian footballers of our time. Here are 10 things you didn't know about the goalie:
1) Vincent Enyeama made his debut for the Nigeria national football team in a match against Kenya in May 2002.
2) He was selected for the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a substitute goalkeeper for Ike Shorunmu.
3) During his spell with Enyimba International F.C, he was always substituted before penalty shootouts.
4) He currently plays his club football for French club Lille OSC.
5) In his first season with Israeli club, Bnei Yehuda, the team qualified for the final of the Israel State Cup and achieved fourth place in the Israeli Premier League, which qualified the team for the 2006 UEFA Cup.
6) Enyeama signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2007 and helped the team to avoid relegation and reach the state cup final in his first season.
7) During his second season with Hapoel, the club almost won the league title, with Enyeama winning the “Player of The Year” award – although he is a goalkeeper.
8) In his third season with Hapoel, the club won the Double, with Enyeama scoring an advantage goal during the Cup Final.
9) On 18 August 2010, Vincent Enyeama scored his first goal of the 2010–11 season with a penalty against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League qualifiers.
10) In 2004 Enyeama was involved in a car accident in Uyo, southeast Nigeria, in which two motorcycle passengers were killed. Despite the severity of the accident, Enyeama only came out with bruises after the car somersaulted twice as it swerved to avoid the motorbike.
11) He played for the Nigerian national team from 2002 until October 2015, serving as its captain from 2013 till his retirement from international football.
