Motorcyclist Docked For Allegedly Knocking Down a Policeman

A police man who was knocked down by a motorcyclist has dragged the motorcyclist to court for assault.

 
A police man, Cpl. Asang Francis who was knocked down by a motorcyclist in Mararaba, Nasarawa State has dragged the motorcyclist, 36-year-old Amade Chimeze to a Grade 1 Area Court. 
 
Cpl. Friday Adaji, the Prosecutor told the court that Asang reported the matter to the 'B' Division Mararaba, Nasarawa State on the 11th of October. Chimeze is facing a two-count charge of assault and causing grievous hurt according to the Prosecuting Officer.
 
The Prosecuting Officer also told the court that the incident happened while Cpl. Francis was walking along ECWA U-turn when the accused knocked him down with his motorcycle, after Chimeze hit Francis, he used a screw driver to inflict several injuries on Francis' hands and head. 
 
Cpl. Adaji further told the court that what Chimeze did was an offence punishable by law. He said the offence contravenes Section 265 and 241 of the Penal Code. Chimeze pleaded not guilty.
 
Judge Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and ordered that the surety must live within the court's jurisdiction. Maga added that the surety must be a civil servant on at least Grade Level 7 whose address must be verified by the court.
 
If convicted, he risks a three-year sentence. The case has been adjourned to Oct. 29.
