We Can't Give Ministerial Portfolio to Thugs, Miscreants and Mistresses - APC Takes Major Swipe at PDP

Posted by Lolade on Fri 13th Nov, 2015 - tori.ng

As the country's two major parties APC and PDP, continue to argue over the newly inaugurated Federal Executive Council, the ruling party has taken a major swipe at its opposition.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said unlike its opposition, it will not appoint miscreants, thugs and mistresses into ministerial positions as was the case under the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration.

APC also slammed the stance of the opposition PDP that the portfolios allocated to the newly inaugurated members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet inspired no change.

The ruling party insisted  that the PDP was warped and a product of “defeat hangover”.

A statement signed by the national secretary of the party, Malam Mai Mala Buni and released on Friday, November 13, advised the PDP to face its business and stop running down the APC-led government, saying that the task of rebuilding the country was everybody’s responsibility.

APC also lauded President Buhari for his choice of ministers, adding that their smooth clearance by the Senate attested to the leadership skills of the president, who it said had restored Nigeria to the path of greatness.

“The PDP should face its rebranding pursuit instead of running down a performing government. APC is not a party which will assign portfolios to miscreants, thugs and mistresses as was rampant during the misrule period of PDP.

“The task of rebuilding Nigeria is a responsibility of every citizen. Rather than sit on the fence to find faults, the opposition should join hands with the president to re-fix the nation.

“President Buhari has what it takes to lead; he is imbued with vision to redirect Nigeria to prosperity but he needs the cooperation of all citizens and groups. Under five months, President Buhari has saved the country from brinkmanship, plugged loopholes, placed premium on prudence and set a new template for probity and accountability,” Buni said.

The statement further reads: “We are happy that every member of the Federal Executive Council is tested and trusted. The meticulous assigning of portfolios on Wednesday was also a signal to Nigerians that their electoral investment in our great party and President Buhari was not a waste. We endorse all the portfolios, we have absolute faith in the new ministers and we know that the final hour of redemption is here.”
