1,696 Positive COVID-19 Patients Yet To Turn Up For Admission In Lagos

The commisioner announced that close to 1,696 people who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in Lagos state are still yet to turn up.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Health Commissioner has disclosed that 1,696 COVID-19 patients are yet to turn up for admission at the COVID-19 care centres.

Abayomi, who stated this on Tuesday on his official Twitter account @ProfAkinAbayomi, said the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infection in Lagos is now 18,131 as of August 29.

“One thousand, six hundred and ninety-six active cases in communities are yet to turn up for admission in #COVID19Lagos care centres.

“H21 new #COVID19 infections were confirmed in Lagos on August 29, out of a total 422 #COVID19 tests conducted, 2,378 of the confirmed cases have however been discharged from #COVID19 Care Centres following full recovery.

“The new cases bring the total number of confirmed #COVID19 infections in Lagos to 18,131.

“The total number of #COVID19 tests conducted so far in Lagos now stands at 85,782,
” he stated.

Abayomi also added that 3,803 of the confirmed cases monitored in communities by COVID-19 Lagos Response Team have either fully recovered or positively responding to treatments.

“Fifty of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private care centres.

“In total, Lagos has conducted 85,782 samples for COVID-19, records 204 deaths as the number of confirmed cases stand at 18,131".


The Presidential Taskforce on Monday announced that the decrease in the nationwide COVID-19 cases was due to low testing.
