The life of a tortoise has been saved by a group of veterinarians after a successful surgery.
The reconstruction surgery was a success
A team of veterinarians have successfully performed surgery on a 75-year-old tortoise at the Veterinary Clinic Sokoto.
The operation took place on Tuesday to reconstruct the shell of the animal.
It was gathered that the shell had been shattered after being ran over by a vehicle (Hilux) in Argungu, Kebbi State.
A team comprising of veterinarians from the clinic and the department of Surgery and Radiology, Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine, Usmanu Danfodiyo Univeristy Sokoto (UDUS), spent hours on the patient.
Fortunately, the shell was fixed using circlage wire and screws and the patient has since returned to Argungu, where he is recuperating.
