Desperate Politician Jumps Through Ring of Fire in a Bid to Win Election (See Photos+Video)

 

A video has shown the moment a politician runs towards a ring of fire before throwing himself through it head first.

Mirror Online reports that the man, Mr Chen Mao-chia, who is hoping for a seat in the Taiwanese Parliament, took part in the bizarre stunt in a bid to show his constituents how determined he is.
 

Surrounded by a small group of supporters Chen Mao-chia takes a run-up before jumping through the fire and doing a forward roll onto the crash mat to break his fall.

He completes the - rather tame - stunt three times with the audience clapping as he completes each run.

Mr Mao-chia, who is hoping to represent Xinzhuang District in Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan next year, got back on his feet and bowed to the crowd, ending the stunt with a short "Thank you" in Chinese.

He chose his former school, Xintai Junior High School, as the location for the show, in a bid to show voters he'd do anything to get the job.

Mr Mao-chia, is the legislative candidate representing Taiwan’s ruling Kuomintang (KMT) party.
