Three European countries have again deported 28 Nigerians in an embarrassing manner and left them stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

At least 28 Nigerians were on Thursday deported from three European countries for residing without valid visas. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigerians were repatriated from Italy, Switzerland and Belgium. NAN recalls that 48 Nigerians were on November 25 deported from the United Kingdom for various immigration offences.

A source at Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, told NAN that 24 of the returnees were repatriated from Italy and two each from Switzerland and Belgium.

According to the source, the deportees are mainly males flown into the country in a Meridiana Fly aircraft, from Rome. The source said the deportees arrived at the Hajj Camp area of the airport 7.25 p.m. and were received by Nigerian Immigration Services and other security agencies.
