Mane
After inspiring his country to its first AFCON trophy, Sadio Mane has been named as the player of the tournament.
The Liverpool forward struck the winning spot-kick to seal his country’s 4-2 shootout victory over Mohamed Salah’s Egypt after Sunday’s final had finished goalless after 120 minutes.
Mane was outstanding throughout the competition in Cameroon, scoring three goals and providing two assists to help Senegal become AFCON champions for the first time.
He saw a penalty saved early on during the final, but later held his nerve to smash in the decisive spot-kick and was duly recognised as the tournament’s best player.
