According to a report by Daily Trust, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor; the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, and other service chiefs are currently meeting behind closed-doors at Force headquarters, Abuja.
The ongoing strategic meeting is part of the efforts being made by the heads of security forces to free passengers of Abuja-Kaduna bound train who were abducted exactly a month ago.
A source confided in Daily Trust that pressures have been mounted on the security forces to free the captives before Eid-el-Fitr or being sanctioned by the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
The source added that the meeting will also encompass the strategic plans for the forthcoming election considering recent alarm raised by the Department of State Service (DSS) that terrorists are planning to bomb worship centres and public places.
”What I know is that the chiefs are meeting to free Kaduna train attack victims. I mean hostages of those terrorists. Security for the next general elections may likely be considered as well,” the source said.
Our correspondent, who was at the venue of the meeting observed a light gridlock on a road around Asokoro leading to the Federal Secretariat.
Daily Trust had reported that the terrorists on Wednesday released the pictures of their 62 hostages with 17 males as well as women and children showing in the separate pictures.
