Niger APC Reps Aspirant Escapes Being Lynched As Thugs Hold Five Officials Hostage

Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, a House of Representatives aspirant for Lapai/Agaie Federal Constituency under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, narrowly escaped death on Saturday.

Dailypost gathered the aspirant was ambushed alongside his supporters around Kutriko community, in Agaie Local Government Area at about 2 a.m. on Friday.

Mahmud, a former Chief Press Secretary to late Governor Abdulkadir Kure, as well as former Vanguard Newspaper correspondent, was on his way from Agaie to Minna, where he went for the party’s primaries.

It was learnt that instead of travelling through the normal route back, the aspirant took the shortcut to link up with Minna.

However, he was allegedly ambushed by some things suspected to be working for his rival.

The aspirant was said to have escaped with some of his supporters through the bush path.

Saidu Aliyu, a supporter of the former CPS, confirming the development, added that they were molested and injured, even as some of the supporters were rushed to the hospital.

Aliyu also explained that five party officials who were sent to Agaie to conduct the primaries were held hostage,saying,” the officials were forced to sign the result sheet in favour of Mahmud’s opponent by the alleged assassins.
