Bishop Mathew Kukah
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Mathew Kukah has given his opinion on how the country is being managed under the Buhari-led administration.
In an interview with Channels TV, Kukah who is a strong critic of the government of the day alleged that President Buhari has been a disaster in the management of Nigeria's diversity. He went further to accuse the President of being blatantly nepotistic.
Speaking on the state of the Nation, Bishop Kukah said;
''This place is a talent killer. You cannot treat young people like this and think you have a future. So the contestation, the volatility will persist. We may conduct elections, we will go through the motions but we are not expecting.
This is the only country where you ask yourself, what are the qualification people bring to the table? Papers are the last thing.
People are coming because they say 'it is our right, it is our turn', but it is not our turn to do good. It is our turn to make up for the marginalisation of our people.
The things I am saying against this President are two and I have stood by them, I have a lot of respect for him but he has been a disaster in the area of managing diversity and blant nepotism. it is morally reprehensible. And I stand to be corrected. Are the things I am saying not true?''
When asked if he fears for his own safety, Bishop Kukah said;
''When people talk about fear, I say fear of what? The only thing I am afraid of is to break the law and I leave with it everyday. The only thing that can give me a sense of fear is that I have broken the law. Short of breaking the law, I will fear a human being or fear what? I have not abused anybody. Even my worst critics will concede that I have never insulted anybody.''
