There have been different reactions to the speculation that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may field a Muslim as the running mate for Tinubu.
Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has stated that there is nothing wrong fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
This is as there are speculations that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may field a Muslim as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
However, some APC chieftains and the religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church have kicked against such move.
In a tweet via his verified Twitter page on Friday, Omokri advised Nigerians to focus on the credibility and competence of the candidate and his running mate and not their religion.
The former presidential aide added he is against the ruling APC because Tinubu is not credible and not due to the move to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
He wrote: “I said this before and I will say it again. There is NOTHING wrong with a Muslim-Muslim ticket if it is a good ticket of credible people. I am against the APC, not because of that plan, but because Tinubu is not credible. Let’s focus on credibility, not religiosity!”
