Gunmen abducted a family of three and a sales boy at Rafin Ciyawa village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Nation reported that the gunmen invaded the village last Thursday around 2 am during which they abducted the Igbo businessman, his nursing wife, their baby as well as his sales boy.
They also shot in the air to scare people away. Chairman of Ningi LGA, Mamuda Hassan Tabla, who confirmed the development said while the wife and baby of the businessman have been released, he and his sales boy are still in the kidnappers' custody.
He said;
“The kidnappers released the nursing mother and the baby after some amount was paid but are holding onto the businessman demanding the sum of N10m before they will release him."
Tabla further disclosed that the gunmen are taking advantage of the rainy season to operate in the forests.
Bauchi Police spokesman Superintendent Ahmed Wakili who also confirmed the incident said;
“At about 2.00hrs, unknown gunmen stormed the house of one Mr. Nnami Sunday a businessman at Rafin Ciyawa village in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State took away his wife, Mrs. Mercy Nnami 42 years old with her 4 months old baby boy and a sales boy, one Bala Ali who is 27 years old.
“On receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda directed the DPO of Ningi, Burra, and the Area Commander to commence discreet investigations”.
