The vice-chancellor of the Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila has implored President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a national emergency in the nation’s education sector. According to him, this will help to correct the challenges confronting the sector in the country.
Prof. Gbajabiamila said this on Wednesday, June 10, in Abeokuta while briefing reporters about the activities marking the 10th year anniversary of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor who claimed that due to inconsistent policies and failure to meet international standard in funding, the country had not recorded significant progress in the education sector in the past 50 years.
He also pointed out that every year, over one million candidates who were qualified for admission into the universities were denied access due to limited spaces available.
He stressed that whatever education policies the nation had adopted in the past 50 years had failed and it’s only a foolish person that will keep on doing the same thing and expect a different result.
