How Nigerian University Paid N38m For Two Vehicles Without Receipts, Gave Council Members N9m Each – SERAP

According to the group, the management of the university in 2019 paid N9,070,000.00 to its Council members and principal officers for “Sallah and Christmas celebrations” without appropriation.

The Nigerian civic group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has made some accusations against the Modibbo Adama University of Technology.

SERAP stated that the management of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa State committed fraud, contract inflation and corruption in its transactional activities.

SERAP disclosed this in a series of tweets on its verified account on Saturday.

According to the group, the management of the university in 2019 paid N9,070,000.00 to its Council members and principal officers for “Sallah and Christmas celebrations” without appropriation.

It added that N38,600,000 was paid for “two Toyota vehicles” without any receipt.

“The Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa, in 2019 reportedly paid N9,070,000.00 to its Council members and principal officers for 'sallah and Christmas celebrations', but without appropriation,” SERAP tweeted.

“The Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa, in 2019 reportedly paid N61,400,339.00 for 'store items' that were never delivered. The University also paid N38,600,000.00 for 'two Toyota vehicles' without any receipt.

“The Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa, in 2019 reportedly paid N6,000,000.00 to a staff member as 'security allowance' for 1 year, despite the fact that the University 'has a running contract with a security firm.'”
