The acting leader of Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo, in his reaction to Fasoranti’s endorsement of Tinubu, insisted Obi remains the endorsed candidate of the group.
A former leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti's endorsement of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, in Akure has been described as a joke.
A chieftain of the group, Gboyega Adejumo revealed this as he insisted that Afenifere is fully in support of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Recall that the acting leader of Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo had while reacting to the incident, said Obi remains the group's choice.
Adebanjo had stated that in the principles of justice, equity, and inclusiveness it is the turn of the South-East to rule Nigeria in 2023.
Meanwhile, Adejumo in an interview on Channels described Fasoranti’s endorsement of Tinubu as a joke.
He further stated that Afenifere under the leadership of Adebanjo remains ‘Obidient’, a slogan used for supporters of Obi.
Adejumo said, “Afenifere is fully Obidient. Nothing has changed. What happened in Akure ought not to happen but it is the season… We’ve seen quite a slew of fake endorsements.
“What happened in Akure was a farce, a joke.”
He added that Adebanjo remains the leader of Afenifere and not Fasoranti, stating that the Fasoranti handed over to the former in March 2021.
