Chief Spokesman of the LP Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Yunusa Tanko stated this in a telephone interview with Vanguard on Tuesday.
The Labour Party (LP) has lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over its Muslim-Muslim ticket.
LP said such a choice from the ruling party shows it has no respect for Nigeria's democracy.
The LP while opposing the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC insisted that it is not a true representation of inclusiveness and respect of diversity which democracy stands for.
Chief Spokesman of the LP Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Yunusa Tanko stated this in a telephone interview with Vanguard on Tuesday.
He noted that Nigeria’s diversity has made it imperative for all political parties to take into account the sensibilities of citizens who all have roles to play in national development.
Tanko insisted that the decision of the APC to field the same faith ticket despite the grievances from the Christians shows that it spites collective sensibilities.
His words: “Our opposition to the same faith ticket is based on what true democracy stands for. True democracy in a society like ours recognizes and respects our diversity and this diversity must be reflected in our choice of candidates for the highest offices in the land. “The decision of the ruling APC to jettison this is a slight on our collective sensibilities.”
