President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians not to elect any leader that will drag the country back to the era of corruption.
Buhari said corruption is evil and should be rejected by all Nigerians ahead of the general elections.
He spoke at a conference on Fighting Corruption in Nigeria organized by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, in Abuja.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, the President said he would bequeath a legacy of zero-tolerance for corruption to Nigerians.
“In a matter of weeks, Nigerians will need to go to the polls again to elect their leaders in the general elections.
“I beseech Nigerians to reject politicians who would drag our country back to the dark ages in which corruption was made the order of the day,” he said.
Since his inception as president, Buhari has expressed his displeasure for corruption.
On several occasions, the president vowed to tackle corruption in Nigeria.
Despite his resolution, he has continued to be criticized over his inability to tackle corruption effectively.
