A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee in Oyo, Nike Ajagbe spoke in a chat with journalists on Wednesday.
The All Progressives Congress has denied having any agreement with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
The party said Nigeria’s President-elect and the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu didn't reach any agreement with Makinde after Tinubu won the state in the just concluded election.
A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee in Oyo, Nike Ajagbe, stated this in a chat with journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Ajagbe said the president-elect does not have any standing agreement with Makinde, adding that the governor will be thoroughly defeated in the March 11 governorship election.
She said Tinubu, as a party man, cannot joke with the success of APC across the country, especially the South-West which he regarded as his stronghold.
Ajagbe said the APC candidate visited Makinde in his office during his campaign rally in the state last month, stressing that the visit was a courtesy call and not an endorsement of the governor.
She said, “It was in the programme of the campaign committee to visit all the opposition governors whenever they are in their respective states for the campaign, so people should not see it as an agreement or they struck a deal. No standing agreement whatsoever between them.”
Agbaje also cited Rivers State and others where Tinubu visited the governors at the Government Houses before proceeding on campaign grounds.
According to her, she was part of the visit of the president-elect to Makinde and no agreement was between the campaign team and Makinde.
He added: “People are surprised to read that Governor Makinde was claiming he had an agreement with the president-elect when he was unable to disclose his support for the president-elect openly, especially when he remarked that people of the state should vote for unifier of the country during the governorship debate on Splash FM.”
