Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer to the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the army and police of killing and inflicting injuries on peaceful protesters in Aba, Abia state on Friday.
There were protests in Aba against the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu since June 2021.
In a statement on Saturday, Ejiofor alleged the protesters engaged in a peaceful demonstration against the continued incarceration of Kanu.
He said Nigeria security agents had launched unprovoked, unconstitutional attacks on South-Eastern Nigerians.
He lamented that the alleged crackdown led to the death of over ten persons and more than 100 persons injured.
Ejiofor said that security agencies adopted close to 150 peaceful protesters.
He decried the continued killing of innocent South Easterns by state and non-state actors.
“During the bloody crackdown on unarmed civilians, over ten persons were gruesomely murdered in cold blood. Over 100 persons were grievously injured by lethal weapons and live ammunition used by these murderous security agents”, the statement reads in part.
