A fire outbreak in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital destroyed a property worth over N80m on Thursday.
The fire incident occurred at about 07.22pm, at the popular Oja-Tuntun Baboko market complex, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle disclosed that firefighters doused the intensity of the inferno which could have spread to other shops and cause more serious destruction in the market.
The leading officer of the firefighters crew said their timely arrival at the scene enabled them to limit the damage caused by the ravaging fire.
Out of 1070 lockup shops, six were affected by the fire incident.
The officer said the fire incident was reportedly caused by the carelessness of one of the shop owners.
Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, who wished all Muslims and Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, advised them to be safety conscious, especially with their cooking materials.
