Twitter User Narrates How Police Officers Allegedly Handled Domestic Violence Case

A Nigerian Twitter user has taken to the microblogging platform to narrate how police officers allegedly handled cases of domestic violence involving women.

According to the Twitter user, after the women filed the reports, they were sent home because they were not taken seriously.

"I watched a women with a fresh bruise on her face in tears report to the police that her husband was hitting her & their responses? “do you want us to arrest your husband?” “why did he beat you?” “I beat my wife when she messes up, make I arrest myself ? She went back home," she tweeted on Sunday, April 23.

“This was in 2019 my friend and i were detained at a police station for 24 hours and we watched three women come report domestic violence and they were given the same responses no report was written, no record of the women reaching out to the police and they all went back home,”
