A Yaba Magistrates’ Court has remanded Rabiu Harana in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre, Lagos for allegedly stabbing one Ismaila Sunday to death with a knife.
The 45-year-old was on Monday, arraigned before Magistrate O.Y. Adefope on one count of murder.
According to the prosecutor, Haruna Magaji, the defendant committed the offence on April 16, 2023, around 12.13 am, at Happy Home, Kirikiri Town, Lagos State.
Magaji told the court that the defendants used a knife to stab the deceased in his neck severally till he died.
The charge read in part, “That you, Rabiu Haruna, on April 16, 2023, around 12.13am at Happy Home Kirikiri Town, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District unlawfully killed one Ismaila Sunday by stabbing him to death with a knife on his neck and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 222 and punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015."
The defendant’s plea was not taken.
The prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Magistrate Adefope, granting the request, remanded the defendant to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre pending legal advice from the DPP.
She also adjourned the case till June 16, 2023.
