Elizabeth Uruakpa
The 66-year-old widow, Elizabeth Uruakpa, who was abducted by gunmen in the Ilisan Remo area of Ogun State, has regained freedom.
Uruakpa, who works as the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, was abducted last week while returning from a church service.
The armed men intercepted Uruakpa’s Honda CRV with their unregistered red Toyota Camry, forcing her into their vehicle before speeding away.
On Thursday, Uruakpa was reportedly dropped off at the gate of Babcock University.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed her release and noted that Uruakpa is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Odutola said, “One Elizabeth Uruakpa, a nurse at Babcock UTH, Ilishan, who was abducted, has now been released and is presently in the hospital on treatment. Investigation ongoing.”
The Director of Communication and Marketing at Babcock University, Joshua Suleiman, also confirmed Uruakpa’s release, saying, “I have heard about the news. I heard that she was dropped off at the university gate; though, I have not seen her.”
