
The family of Nigerian footballer Ihotu John Rebecca has called on the public for help after she was abducted along the Benin Expressway.
Rebecca, who features for Pacesetter Queens FC in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, was reportedly k!dnapped on Friday, February 27, while travelling home along the Benin motorway.
According to emerging reports, her abductors have demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.
Rebecca is known for competing at the top tier of women’s d0mestic football in Nigeria, making her abduction particularly distressing within the sporting community.
Her family has called on football stakeholders, club executives, sponsors, government officials, sports administrators and well-meaning Nigerians to assist in securing her safe return.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, as concerns grow over security along major highways.
