Orowole Kolapoz, a popular Nigerian photographer and biker, who is widely known as Kola Onifoto, has d!ed following a lone motorcycle crash in Lagos.
Kolapoz, 32, a travel enthusiast and brand influencer, was reportedly involved in the accident on Sunday while embarking on what he described as his first solo motorcycle journey outside Lagos.
Hours before the crash, he had shared a post on his Facebook page announcing his trip to Akure, celebrating seasoned bikers who have travelled extensively across Nigeria and beyond.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote.
Following the accident, friends disclosed online that Kolapoz was initially taken to an emergency unit operated by the Federal Road Safety Corps at Ojota.
He was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where supporters continued to express hope and prayers for his recovery.
He eventually succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, March 2.
News of his passing triggered an emotional wave of tributes from friends, colleagues and followers on social media. Many described him as passionate, adventurous and inspiring.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been fully clarified. Only in January, Kolapoz had marked the fulfilment of a long-held dream by celebrating his transition into biking and sharing images of himself with his motorcycle.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps were unsuccessful, as calls and a text message sent to its spokesperson had not been returned as of the time of filing this report.
