President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal met at the State House in Abuja on Thursday to talk about political, economic, and security challenges in the state.
Sulaiman Idris, the governor's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement, pointing out that the security situation in Zamfara was the main topic of discussion.
Lawal informed the president on the progress made in addressing insecurity and identified areas that needed more action to bring about long-lasting peace, according to the statement.
According to reports, Tinubu reiterated the federal government's commitment to assisting the state, including promises to boost troop deployment and supply equipment required to improve security operations.
Along with providing the president with an update on the state's economic performance—specifically, gains in internally generated revenue—the governor also requested more federal assistance to promote regional businesses and generate employment.
The president's meeting with governors of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, took place soon after.
