In advance of the next elections, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has promised equal opportunities to all candidates running under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In order to accommodate the party's expanding membership, he also revealed plans to build a new, larger state secretariat.
Uzodimma made the revelation over the weekend during the Imo APC's important stakeholders' meeting, which was hosted at the party's secretariat in Owerri.
The governor informed party leaders, stakeholders, and present members of the national and state assemblies that the APC had expanded and become more well-known as a result of its progressive and people-focused policies.
He informed the members of the national and state assemblies, as well as other interested parties, that the APC's "people-oriented and progressive policies" were the reason for their allegiance.
While stating that there are indications of the APC's popularity and encouraging them to act like sportsmen, he promised all of the candidates that the next primaries would be fair.
In addition to urging them to remain loyal and disciplined regardless of the outcome of the nomination process, the governor declared that the APC would uphold the greatest ideals of internal democracy and fair competition.
"The majority of our people have confirmed that the APC is doing well, not just in Imo State but throughout Nigeria," he stated. The state's opposition has all but vanished as a result of our programs' ongoing good effects on the populace.
"It won't be out of place to say that the APC is the only party that is really in existence in our state.”
He stated that the existing secretariat had shrunk due to the party's success in the state and that plans were in process to relocate to a larger location.
The governor then instructed Chief Austin Onyedebelu, the state chairman, to request land allocation from the Ministry of Lands in order to construct a larger and more appropriate state secretariat.
Chief Onyedebelu, the chairman of the Imo State APC, thanked the governor for his support of the party in Imo, the Southeast, and Nigeria as a whole. He also praised stakeholders for their contributions to the party's operations, citing the governor's leadership as the reason for the APC's overwhelming popularity in the state.
Imo National Assembly members, former deputy governors, Secretary to the State Government Chief Cosmos Iwu, Chief of Staff Nnamdi Anyaehie, former state chairmen of the party, members of the Imo State House of Assembly, council chairmen, LGA party chairmen, and candidates for various positions were among the prominent party figures who attended the forum.
Dr. Onwuasoanya Jones, the state publicity secretary, has reiterated the party's faith in Uzodimma's leadership and dedication to the APC's goals while also expressing gratitude to the governor and stakeholders.
