
The deadline for selling Direct Entry (DE) application forms has been extended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to May 8, 2026.
The board's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, revealed the decision in a statement released on Wednesday via X. He clarified that the goal of the action is to guarantee that all qualified applicants have sufficient opportunities to pursue postsecondary education.
"The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended the sale of Direct Entry, DE, application documents to May 8, 2026, from the earlier closing date, as part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country," the statement stated.
In order to streamline the application process, especially in areas with high demand, the board also announced the approval of five more registration centers.
The Center for Open and Distance Learning, CODL, Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; the Prof. Usman E-Learning Center at the Federal College of Education Special Oyo, Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos, which opened for business on April 30, 2026.
The statement claims that the additional locations are meant to reduce traffic and enhance accessibility for applicants who want to finish their Direct Entry registration.
