According to reports, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has taken over as the Progressive Governors Forum's (PGF) new chairman, replacing Hope Uzodimma.
According to sources, the decision was made during an emergency gathering of governors chosen on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform that took place in Abuja on Thursday night.
Only hours had passed since Governor Uzodimma addressed on behalf of APC governors during President Bola Tinubu's submission of his presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja.
About 20 APC governors, including those from Ogun, Bayelsa, and Enugu states, attended the private meeting, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The rise of Governor Mbah is viewed as a major political development inside the ruling party, particularly in light of the APC's ongoing talks and strategic alliances.
Party sources stated that the decision was part of efforts to reposition the forum and promote inter-state coordination among APC governors, even if official facts around the leadership change were still hazy as of press time.
