Nollywood actor and musician Jude Chukwuka celebrated his 61st birthday on Tuesday with a listening party for his newly released seven-track album, Things I Love, held at The Box Lounge in Lagos.
The intimate event brought together friends, family, industry colleagues and former schoolmates, and also served as the official unveiling of the project.
Among the guests were fellow Nollywood actors Saidi Balogun and Olarotimi Fakunle. Chukwuka also performed a live rendition of Cheat Code, a duet featuring his wife, Mimi, who is also featured on the album.
The project comprises seven tracks including Nancy Pelosi, Brazilian Assassin, Arsenal (Mase beru), Redemption Day, Invisible Striker, Kodak and the duet with his wife.
Speaking at the event, Chukwuka described the occasion as an opportunity to introduce another dimension of his artistry beyond acting.
"For me, it is a great platform to let them know things I do outside of acting. For me, it is something that has been there forever," he said.
He revealed that the track Arsenal (Mase beru) was inspired by his long-standing support for English Premier League club Arsenal and his belief that the side would end its lengthy title drought.
"I am an Arsenal fan. I knew that we were going to win the league this season. In December, I did a song, 'Arsenal (Mase beru)'. So it is a year to celebrate the 22 years of drought for Arsenal," he said.
His wife Mimi, reflecting on their relationship, described herself as deeply grateful.
"I am the happiest woman on earth. I am a happy wife because of the kind of person that I have. Words are not enough to express how I feel about him. He is a very wonderful person," she said.
