Nigerians were reassured by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria as a whole would continue to grow under his administration.
Tinubu called on Nigerians to work together with him to develop the nation till his administration is felt in every city.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, addressed on his behalf during the Old Keffi Road's commissioning from Kado Fish Market to Deidei, which commemorated his third year in office.
The president revealed that the road's commissioning would boost local business.
He stated: "This road connects Kado, Saburi, Gwagwa, Idu, Karmo, and Deidei directly to the outer Northern expressway, making it more than just a carriage way but an economic artery."
“We have cut travel time, we have cut the cost for residents, goods would now move faster, markets would breathe, and workers would get to their destinations and their jobs with less stress. And I venture to predict that this environment's inhabitants will experience more prosperity.
Tinubu praised Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for the Abuja light-up initiative, saying it is an example of the benefits of democracy.
"We have integrated street lights here through your light up Abuja initiative so movement at night is safer and commerce at night can extend beyond sunset," he continued.
This is how democracy pays off: the government demonstrates love for the people who live there, and the people express love for the government by praising it and expecting more from it.
"This infrastructure is your property, citizens and traditional leaders of these communities.
Take great care of it, don't destroy the street lights, don't obstruct the drainage system with trash, and report any damage as soon as possible to facilitate reconstruction.
"The road that the community maintains lasts for a generation, the road that the community abuses dies early, and it is up to us to decide."
Ladies and gentle men, we are not slowing down across the FCT, from the central to the area councils, we are creating inclusiveness, for safety, and for growth.
Every district should have access, and every person should be able to experience the effects of my administration no matter where they reside.
Together, we can create the Nigeria of our dreams if we work together for good and growth.
With gratitude to God almighty, it’s now my singular honour and privilege to officially commission the rehabilitated old Keffi road, from Kado village to Deidei junction by the Outer Northern expressway for commerce, mobility, security, and for the continued progress of the FCT and by implication Nigeria.”
