Army Rescues 14 Kidnap Victims, Recovers 281 Livestock in Sokoto

A military operation in Sokoto has ended with the rescue of several kidnapped victims and the recovery of stolen livestock after troops confronted armed attackers.

Troops from the Nigerian Army's 8 Division Garrison rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered 281 animals from bandits who raided Horo Birni Village in Shagari Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

A credible security source in the area disclosed the operational success to a news agency on Wednesday in Sokoto.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said troops responded swiftly to distress calls on Tuesday and carried out the operation by confronting the t3rrorists, who were moving with the kidn@pped victims and rustled livestock at the time.

According to the source, troops made contact with the assailants while they were still in possession of the abd*cted civilians and livestock taken from the villagers.

The source disclosed that troops engaged the t3rrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray with gunshot wounds, abandoning both the kidn@pped victims and the rustled livestock in the process.

A search of the area led to the successful rescue of 14 victims, alongside the recovery of 195 cows, 84 sheep, two camels and two motorcycles.

The source explained that the troops' swift response helped save lives and property, commending the teamwork and synergy displayed among agencies during the operation.

According to the source, the troops remain battle-ready to tackle all forms of criminality across the country but continue to rely on sustained community support and vigilance.
