Adeleke Vows to Resist Intimidation as Osun Election Tensions Rise

The Accord Party's nominee for governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has stated that his administration is determined to stop what he called "provocations" through legal and democratic means.

In statements posted on social media on Thursday, Adeleke highlighted that efficient resource management and improved living standards form the foundation of his governance record.

He expressed gratitude to party loyalists in Ayedaade Local Government Area, where his campaign received substantial public support, describing the reception as evidence of continued backing for his continuity agenda.

Adeleke stressed that his people have demonstrated resilience amid repeated provocations and vowed not to yield to intimidation regardless of its source.

He called on supporters to remain peaceful and disciplined, emphasising that unity and strong voter turnout represent the most effective response to intimidation attempts.

The governor referenced his administration's track record across multiple sectors, emphasising achievements in people-focused policies, public resource stewardship, and project delivery that have enhanced conditions for residents.

The statement comes amid ongoing tension surrounding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's directive freezing the state government's statutory allocation account as part of an investigation.

The state's Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment denied financial misconduct allegations and accused the anti-graft agency of acting at the behest of a former administration to obstruct the payment of worker benefits.

The Nigerian Bar Association has challenged the EFCC's authority to impose a blanket restriction on a state's finances without proper legal procedures.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, with Adeleke seeking a second term.
