Delta Commissioner Suspended Over Alleged Attack on Governor's Aide

The Delta State Government has indefinitely suspended Reuben Izeze, Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), following allegations linking him to an att@ck on Simon Mudi, the Governor's Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, commonly known as Temple. The suspension became effective immediately.

The state government announced the action through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, on Monday.

According to the disclosure, the suspension enables security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into the alleged att@ck, which reportedly took place at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun.

The government characterised the decision as necessary to prevent interference during the inquiry.

The government emphasised that public safety and maintenance of law and order remain central to the administration's priorities.

It reaffirmed its dedication to protecting human life and ensuring that public institutions and officials operate within the constraints of established law rather than remaining exempt from accountability.

The suspension arose following an alleged confrontation between Izeze and Mudi at the PTI facility.

The investigation is expected to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the incident.

The state government did not specify the investigation duration or indicate whether Izeze's reinstatement would follow upon conclusion of the inquiry.

Izeze, who represents Ughelli South State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, was appointed to his commissioner position by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
