Governor Adeleke Fiercely Defends Dancing Habit At Heated Election Forum

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed criticism of his dancing habit, asserting that the leisure activity does not compromise his gubernatorial duties.

Adeleke made the remarks during a televised town hall forum on Tuesday featuring candidates in Saturday's state governorship election, responding to jibes from Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who had branded him the "dancing governor" at an APC campaign event.

Adeleke characterised dancing as an inherent family trait and a personal passion separate from his administrative responsibilities.

He emphasised that life requires balance between relaxation and labour, and that his public appearances on dance floors have not diminished his commitment to governance or service delivery.

He countered critics by offering to teach them dancing techniques.

The governor highlighted his administration's infrastructural accomplishments, citing extensive road construction and rehabilitation throughout Osun coupled with solar-powered streetlights installed along several routes to enhance security and economic activity.

He further cited the rehabilitation and upgrade of over 200 primary healthcare centres to international standards, equipping them with reliable electricity and potable water provisions.

Adeleke is contesting Saturday's election under the Accord Party banner, having departed from the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform through which he secured the governorship in 2022.
