Nollywood Veteran Breaks Silence on Struggles After Leaving Lagos

Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has disclosed the substantial difficulties he has encountered since moving to Badagry, describing how the relocation devastated his acting career and left him financially unstable.

Speaking during an interview, Afolabi reflected on his transition from television prominence to undertaking diverse manual occupations merely to survive.

His decision to relocate stemmed from aspirations to acquire residential property, yet the move precipitated severe professional consequences.

Acting and photography opportunities dried up whilst he grappled with vehicle maintenance expenses, eventually resulting in the disposal of his Nissan Quest after nearly two years of non-use.

He exchanged the automobile for a modest sum and purchased a motorcycle, acknowledging his inexperience with the vehicle resulted in repeated accidents.

The actor became emotional recounting the hardships his wife and children endured throughout this period.

He recalled an encounter with someone who recognised his television presence but expressed shock at observing his precarious circumstances.

That individual advised him to return to urban centres and reconnect with industry colleagues.

Afolabi expressed profound aversion to soliciting assistance, declaring preference for undertaking any lawful employment.

He indicated willingness to provide transportation services if provided with an appropriate vehicle.

Following his account, media personality Biola Adebayo appealed to the public for support, expressing intentions to facilitate assistance securing a vehicle, improved housing and sustainable livelihood opportunities for the actor through her platform.
