19 Year Old Housewife Arrested After Husband Falls Ill From Poisoned Meal

The Bauchi State Police Command has detained a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, on suspicion of attempting to fatally poison her husband by contaminating his food in Gwamma Village.

The suspect, married approximately 40 days prior to the alleged incident, reportedly introduced a toxic substance into her husband's meal on August 12, 2026.

Police received a distress call at approximately 7:40pm from an anonymous resident in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.

Officers from a local police division responded immediately and transported the victim to a teaching hospital where he is receiving treatment and reportedly remains in stable condition.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident. During interrogation, she allegedly provided a confessional statement regarding her actions.

Investigators recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the toxic substance, along with remnants of the contaminated meal, which were registered as evidence.

The Police Commissioner has directed the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for continued investigation.

The suspect will face court proceedings upon completion of inquiries.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
