Afrobeats star Davido has denied that his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and his entourage came under att@ck at a palace visit.

He acknowledged there was a fight outside the palace but said it was unrelated to the governor. People love the governor, he posted on social media.

The dispute came after reports that security detail guarding the governor got into a gun battle with unidentified people during Adeleke's visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo's palace, shortly after collecting his election certificate from the electoral commission.

Davido had been with the governor that day.

But the state police gave a different version.

They said preliminary findings show suspected gang members were trying to reach Davido at the palace.

One man, known as "Small Rugged," allegedly tried to get access to the music star but was blocked by Davido's security.

This triggered other suspected gang members nearby, who blocked the palace entrance and stopped the governor's convoy from moving.

The confrontation spiralled into gunfire, and residents panicked.

A 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, was sh0t during the clash. He was found bleeding in another part of town after the gang members left and was taken to the hospital, but doctors could not save him.

Police have opened an investigation and appealed to the public for information to help catch those responsible.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke announced a 500 million naira fund to support victims of violence that happened before the August 15 election.

The Adeleke family will also pay for university education for children of people who d!ed in the violence, regardless of their political affiliation.

A committee led by the state assembly speaker will verify who qualifies for help.

The governor said the aid is humanitarian, not political.
