Atiku Claims Tinubu Is 90 and Vows to Prove It in Court

Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that he has evidence that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old and plans to present the evidence in court.

Atiku made the remark during an interview with the online report, defending his decision to run for president and stating that his age and health should not prevent him from serving the nation.

"I have a president who is 90 years old and unwell. I am healthy and strong.

So why wouldn't I make my services available to my countrymen?" Atiku inquired.

He also stated that he had documentation to corroborate his allegation about Tinubu's age and that he would show it in court.

"I have evidence that he is [90], and I will present it in court," he stated.

Atiku's assertion regarding President Tinubu's age came in reaction to inquiries about his own competence and qualification to run for president in 2027.

Speaking about his political history, the ADC presidential candidate stated that running for president was within his constitutional rights, emphasizing that his political journey had been defined by numerous attempts to attain electoral office.

Atiku stated that he ran for governor four times but was consistently disqualified by military authorities managing Nigeria's transition to democracy.

"I ran for governor four times because the people in charge of Nigeria's transition to democracy were military, and I was extremely anti-military."

Whenever I won, they would disqualify me.

"The last time there was an attempt on my life, I went into exile," he explained.

He stated that the problems he faced during his political career were not new to him, and that he had never considered his political journey to be simple.

"In my life, nothing has been easy.

There is nothing new here. Atiku stated that competing for the presidency twice or three times is not unusual in his political life.

The former vise president also discussed Nigeria's rising insecurity, blaming the crisis's continuation on what he called "government irresponsibility."

Atiku claimed that prior governments had not given enough attention to the country's defense and security needs, stating that the size of Nigeria's population necessitated an increase in security personnel.

"I remember when we were in office, I told the president that, look, we are over 200 million people and yet we have less than 200,000 policemen," he stated.

In a contrast to Egypt, Atiku stated that the North African country had a substantially greater police force than its population.

"Egypt, which has a population of almost 80 million, had one million police officers on its streets.

"Therefore, there is peace there," he stated.

Atiku expressed confidence that the country's security concerns could be resolved in a reasonably short amount of time if appropriate steps were implemented.

"Believe me, within one year, we can control this insurgency and insecurity that is all over the place," he stated.

As political efforts for the 2027 general election heat up, the ADC presidential candidate is expected to encounter competition from other candidates.
