Nigeria's Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has released FBI records showing that President Bola Tinubu was born on March 29, 1952, putting to rest claims that the president is 90 years old.
Omokri shared a letter from the FBI that was sent through the US Embassy in Lagos to the Nigerian government.
The letter, addressed to the Inspector-General of Police at the time, contained the president's date of birth in its official records.
The opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar had publicly claimed he had evidence proving Tinubu was 90 years old and said he would present this evidence in court.
Omokri dismissed the claim during a podcast interview, pointing to the FBI document as definitive proof.
According to the letter Omokri shared, the FBI conducted a records check when asked about Tinubu in 2003.
The check showed no criminal arrests, wants, or warrants against him.
More importantly, the FBI records listed his date of birth as March 29, 1952, which would make him 74, not 90.
Omokri said the FBI document completely undermines any suggestion that the president's age is what his opponents claim.
He described it as a vindication of Tinubu and proof that the age controversy has been settled by official American records.
