Navy Intercepts 19 Bags of Suspected Cannabis in Anambra

The Nigerian Navy has turned over 19 bags of suspected cannabis to drug enforcement officials in Onitsha.

The handover happened on Tuesday at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency office after the drugs were found at Atani in Anambra State.

Navy personnel spotted a vehicle they thought was carrying cannabis during a routine patrol and chased it.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

Officers then found a warehouse where the suspect had been storing drugs and recovered all 19 bags there.

The commanding officer said the operation shows how alert and ready his sailors are to fight drug trafficking in the area.

He asked the drug agency to update the navy once it finishes investigating the seized substances and determines what happens next.
