Militant Fighter Surrenders With Rocket Launcher and Bomb in Borno

A fighter from a militant group has voluntarily surrendered to military troops in Borno State with a rocket launcher and bomb.

The t3rrorist gave himself up to soldiers on Wednesday, September 2, in an area near the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

Military officials said the surrendered fighter had previously operated in a mountainous region known for militant activity.

When he turned himself in, troops recovered a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, a grenade bomb and a mobile phone from him.

The soldier who made the announcement did not disclose the identity of the surrendered t3rrorist.

Officials said he is undergoing preliminary investigation and questioning according to established procedures.

The military said this surrender shows the impact of sustained military pressure on militant networks and their decreasing ability to operate freely in the region.

The development reflects ongoing efforts by military forces to weaken militant capabilities and encourage those still armed to abandon violence and accept peace.

Military commanders said they remain committed to continuing pressure on militant elements, limiting their ability to act and creating conditions for lasting peace and stability in the North East region.
