Adebayo Says Four Years Can Fix Nigeria, Challenges Tinubu to Debate

The Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, says four years is enough time for a strong government to fix Nigeria's problems.

Prince Adewole Adebayo attacked what he called the country's politics of comedy and clowning and said bad leadership has been Nigeria's main problem since 1999.

Prince Adewole Adebayo challenged President Bola Tinubu to come out and debate him before the 2027 election.

He questioned what the government has done with money saved from removing fuel subsidies and demanded answers about spending on security, compressed natural gas and electricity.

Prince Adewole Adebayo said the men running the presidential villa and state government houses are the country's biggest problem.

He said when Nigerians vote to change government in 2027, they will have eliminated about 60 percent of banditry.

Prince Adewole Adebayo unveiled the SDP's manifesto titled "Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity" which sets out the party's plan to tackle security, economic and infrastructure challenges.

He accused the Central Bank of Nigeria of failing to protect the naira and creating a safe space for thieves.

He also claimed government is stealing public money from oil, solid minerals and taxes in broad daylight.

Prince Adewole Adebayo said an SDP government would combine military action with political, economic and social solutions to fight insecurity.

On the economy, he promised to generate 75,000 megawatts of electricity and build four functional public refineries plus 36 modular refineries.

He proposed selling petrol at 200 naira per litre instead of international prices because Nigerian wages are much lower than international standards.

SDP National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Umar Gombe said the manifesto focuses on three things: security, productivity and prosperity.

Prof. Sadiq Umar Gombe said the party would secure lives while addressing economic and social conditions that fuel crime and extremism.

He stressed that accountability is not just important to governance but is governance itself.

VP candidate Dr Usman Bugaje said Nigeria's real problem is not a shortage of capable people but poor leadership.

Dr Usman Bugaje pointed to Nigerians living abroad who perform well in their jobs as proof the country has the talent to become prosperous.

Dr Usman Bugaje identified low farm productivity and expensive energy as major problems holding back national development.
