Benue Police Arrest 20 Suspects in Major Crime Crackdown

The Benue State Police Command has arrested 20 people suspected of being involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and banditry across the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, presented the suspects at the command headquarters in Makurdi, explaining that they were caught during series of police operations in different areas.
During the operations, officers recovered three AK-47 rifles, 33 rounds of live bullets, two motorcycles, a Toyota Corolla car, homemade guns, and charm items.
The police chief shared that three armed suspects were killed during a raid in Logo Local Government Area.
Another armed suspect was killed on August 26 near Ayilamo while allegedly attacking farmers and destroying crops.
Officers also stopped an attempted armed robbery at Ayati village on August 9, forcing the robbers to run away and leave behind a homemade gun and bullets.
In addition, investigations exposed a gang that steals cars and motorcycles.
Five suspects were arrested in connection with the ring.
Police tracked the operation to Gassol Local Government Area in neighboring Taraba State, where they recovered a Toyota Corolla and two stolen motorcycles.
Commissioner Nwadiogbu warned that the police will continue to fight hard against illegal weapons and won't let Benue become a safe haven for criminals.
He also urged members of the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities in their communities to help keep the state safe.
