Religious leaders from the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria have asked President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the jailed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The bishops made the appeal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation during the conference's yearly meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
An archbishop speaking on behalf of the South-East praised the Tinubu administration before making an emotional request, saying he wanted to kneel and ask the government to release Kanu.
Religious representatives from across Nigeria's six regions backed the conference president and gave him authority to speak on issues affecting the country.
The conference has over 950 bishops in Nigeria and operates in 51 countries worldwide.
The bishops also expressed their support for the Tinubu government.
