Panic at Niger Hospital After Suspected Explosive Device Found

A suspected improvised explosive device was discovered at a hospital in Niger State on Wednesday, September 9.

The device was found on the premises of General Hospital in New Bussa during the morning.

A security officer at the hospital spotted it and immediately alerted police and other security personnel.

Officers specializing in explosives were quickly sent to the scene.

They made the device safe, searched the entire hospital grounds, and took the device into custody for further investigation.

The discovery caused panic among people at the hospital.

Security forces, including police and soldiers, moved in to secure the area.

Access to the hospital was restricted only patients and one or two of their relatives were allowed inside, while the general public was kept out.

Police said the situation was brought under control and security around the hospital was increased.

Normalcy has since been restored to the area.

However, authorities have not disclosed who placed the device or what the motive was behind it.

The investigation is ongoing.
