NURTW President Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, says he is taking English lessons to become more fluent.
He made the remarks at a rally supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid.
He was speaking to actor Adams Kehinde, known as Lege Miami.
Speaking in Yoruba, MC Oluomo said he and Lege Miami both struggle with fluent English.
He said he has now enrolled in classes to improve.
He also said his frequent travels should have made him more fluent, but he said his US citizenship lets him move freely into the country.
"When I get to immigration, and they ask how many weeks I want to stay, I tell them no, this is my home," he said.
"I am a US citizen; I am going home."
He praised his children, saying they speak English better than he does.
He said they work in the US as nurses, a doctor and an engineer.
"If I get somewhere and cannot speak English well, I will give the microphone to one of my children," he said.
His comments come more than a year after he was mocked online in April 2025 for saying "kundusi" instead of "kudos" at an event in Abuja.
“Neither of us speaks English fluently, so I’m taking classes to improve. My children in the U.S. are a nurse, a doctor, and an engineer. As an American citizen, I have the right to enter and stay in the U.S.; I’m not a tourist.” — Mc Oluomo https://t.co/ItFrw3uNDK
