Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to protect the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from being hijacked for unscrupulous reasons.
Controversial Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose while recently delivering a speech at the event of oath-taking of 10 new commissioners in Ekiti state has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to protect the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from politicians who are ready to cripple the law enforcement body for obnoxious purposes.
This he said after congratulating ex Minister of Aviation of Nigeria, Femi Fani-Kayode, on his acquittal by the court.
He said, "I want to advise President Buhari not to allow politicians hijack the graft war because if our motive is to fight personality instead of the corrupt people, then you will destroy institutions and rubbish the whole thing.”
The Governor also announced he would be doing the unusual by giving the illiterates a space on his appointment list.
“The illiterates will get 25 percent because it is from them we get the votes. Though they may not have the certificates, but there is nothing wrong with us keeping them in one board for them to have recognition.
"If no leader rises up to promote these children of the poor, who will promote them? I am here for children of the poor, if you don’t like it, wait for your time ”, he said.
He also used the opportunity to thank the Ekiti people for helping him retain his seat by supporting him throughout the impeachment ordeal that shook his stand.
